San Diego is a great way to see holiday lights while enjoying the winter. There are plenty of neighborhoods who light up their homes for the holiday season. From musical holiday displays to roaring holiday parties, there is truly something for everyone.

Candy Cane Lane

Candy Cane Lane is located on Hickory Street in Poway. During the second week of December, this neighborhood turns into something that’s often seen in movies. You’ll be excited over the inflatable decorations, lighted displays, and other holiday attractions.

If you’re watching from your vehicle, have patience since everything will move at a slower pace. Some families choose to park their car along the side of the road, so they can watch. You can even walk around the neighborhood to look at the lights up-close and personal.

Christmas Card Lane

Christmas Card Lane is located on Oviedo Street in Rancho Penasquitos. This neighborhood has their holiday lights on during the first weekend in December. This attraction draws a large crowd every year.

It’s best to go between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. when all of their lights are on. Your kids will enjoy the lit Disney displays. You’ll want to go on a romantic horse-drawn carriage or to curl up at a cozy bonfire with your significant other.

Carlsbad Home

The Carlsbad Home is one of the best displays you’ll ever see in all of San Diego. Not only do you get to see beautiful Christmas lights, but you also get a personalized letter from Santa Claus. Take your little ones to his mailbox on 6646 Elegant Tern Pl. in Carlsbad to mail their own letter to him. Be sure to include their address since they’ll get a response back from the big guy himself.

This is a unique treat for everyone in your family. The Carlsbad Home has plenty to see and do for everyone in your group. The mom wanted to share the true meaning of Christmas with her community. The Carlsbad family also hosts their annual Christmas party on Dec. 22 from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m.

Your little ones can meet with Santa and his elves as they eat candy canes and cookies. Meanwhile, the adults can enjoy wine as they mingle and listen to holiday music.

Starlight Circle

Starlight Circle is located in the area of Santee. This light display attracts thousands of visitors each year. This display is located on the East and West Glendon areas of Magnolia Avenue. Visitors can check out the dozens of lit homes along this drive.

Most of the homes follow a theme such as “Star Wars” or “Toy Story.” Most of the homeowners sell hot chocolate, cookies, kettle corn, and other treats for visitors. You can snack as you take a stroll down this scenic neighborhood. The lights are on display from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. nightly.
